Services

Pendl Lab is a registered veterinary company exclusively focusing on diagnostic microscopy in exotic animal species. We provide practice-oriented services in hematology, cytology, histology, and pathology in zoo- and wildlife animals with special emphasis on birds and reptiles. Our clients comprise private practitioners, zoological gardens, and scientific institutions. Besides routine diagnostic workups and scientific collaborations, we offer consulting and training programs tailored to the specific needs of veterinarians, biologists, and veterinary technicians working in different professional fields.

Training courses and continuing education programs

workshops on diagnostic microscopy

  • since 1995 regularly at international meetings, academic postgraduate programs, and online platforms
  • up to 40 participants per course – different levels in one course possible
  • collection of more than 100 pre-evaluated and photographically documented slides for training purposes 
  • classic microscopy, self-assessment tests, quiz sessions, games (pairs)
  • virtual microscopy in development

One-to-one tuition

  • second-opinion evaluation of samples including photographic documentation 
  • on request, generation of a practice specific reference collection of slides for self-assessment and comparison
  • effective learning based on the practice specific caseload

Consultancy services

  • routine diagnostic workups onsite and online in cooperation with an international network of zoo veterinarians
  • onsite presence up to 14 days per visit according to the needs of the client
  • training of veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and biologists in hematology, cytology, histology and pathology
