Helene Pendl graduated from the veterinary faculty of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU) in Munich, Germany and completed her doctoral thesis on psittacine hematology at the Institute of Avian Diseases of the LMU in collaboration with Palmitos Bird Park, Gran Canaria, Spain. After several months of postgraduate studies in avian exotic medicine in the U.S. and six years as a practitioner in small animal, avian, exotic pet, and laboratory animal medicine, she started her own business Pendl Lab in 2002.
Dr. Pendl has published in standard textbooks and journals and has been a regular lecturer and instructor at international conferences and postgraduate programs for more than 20 years. She is a member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV), European Association of Avian Veterinarians (EAAV), and the American Association of Avian Pathologists (AAAP). 2016/17 she has been a consultant for Chimelong Group Co., Ltd., Guangzhou, P.R. China. From 2011 to 2020 she held a position as a freelance pathologist for the Labor am Zugersee AG Hünenberg, Switzerland.
